Technology And Methodology

OBS is based on Client / Server architecture:

  • Server
    • provides data and functions
    • data are managed in relational databases (Oracle)
    • contains the complete business logic
  • Client
    • presents the server-provided data for users (GUI, Web Frontend) and customers (ORT)
    • is created individually

OBS consists of a three-tier architecture:

  • Data tier
  • Logic tier
  • Presentation tier

For every tier the most advantageous and reliable tools have been applied, e.g.:

  • Java
  • SQL
  • Delphi
  • Cobol

OBS Data Mart

The data model of OBS is open and allows a direct access for reporting purposes.

In addition OBS provides a Data Mart. The data model of the OBS Data Mart is designed for evaluation and interfaces and therefore has:

  • a simple structure
  • already calculated and aggregated data
  • an evaluations platform separated form the operational data

The OBS Data Mart is flexible and can be modified and extended by the bank.

Hardware And Operating Systems

As opposed to many other Core Banking Systems, OBS was specifically developed to be hardware independant, thus giving the client more flexibility and choice. The flexible archtitecture that characterises OBS allows for a rapid adaption to other or new hardware platforms without having to make any changes to the core system.

A modern relation database design coupled with standard database software (Oracle, but also PostGreSQL) guarantees high performance, security and availability. With the use of market standard query tools (e.g. Business Objects) additional reports can be created quickly and easily.

The following operating systems are supported:

The user workstation can be any windows workplace. Even a distribution of the application via Citrix is supported.
